We’re super excited to announce that one of our favorite local Ravenswood spots is sponsoring this year’s Wedtoberfest. Band of Bohemia truly has it all – unique house-made beer, a gorgeous space, ridiculously delicious food, oh and a Michelin star. Their menu is perfectly composed – offering seasonal bites with suggested beer pairings, using the beer they brew in-house. Read more
Summer is in full swing, and ice cold beer has never tasted so good. There’s nothing like enjoying a delicious local beer in one of the city’s countless beer gardens. Even though we absolutely adore Chicago in the summertime, there is one date we wish would get here faster: September 21st! We can’t wait for this year’s Wedtoberfest -it’s going to be the best one yet.
Here in Chicago, there are countless wedding vendors and services. One of the most unique ones we’ve encountered is Poemgrown, an awesome and sentimental service by Cin Salach. Poemgrown writes custom poems for weddings and other special occasions. Learn more about Poemgrown through the Q&A below!
Instead of going to see a movie for your next date night, mix it up and do something that involves your shared love for beer! Chicago has an incredibly vibrant beer scene with over sixty breweries in the city, so there are tons of options for beer-themed activities. Get inspired by the list below, and “cheers!” with your partner this weekend.
Do you love beer? Are you getting married? If the answer to both these questions is “yes”, we think you should incorporate beer into your big day! Whether you and your partner make beer for a living, or you both simply adore drinking it, there are many creative ways to express your affinity for beer at this momentous occasion. Check out these ideas of how to incorporate beer into your wedding festivities.
We love our neighborhood beer store, Bottles & Cans. Located in North Center, Bottles & Cans offers an extensive list of craft beers and other delicious alcoholic beverages. They were one of our amazing sponsors this year, and we want you to learn more about them!
What is unique about Bottles and Cans as compared to other liquor stores?
We are a small boutique shop with a extensive portfolio of craft beers. We pride ourselves in having a super knowledgeable and friendly staff. We also carry wine and small batch spirits with a large focus on whiskey.
Can you tell us what kind of wedding-related services you provide?
We cater to couples who want a unique selection of beer, wine and cocktails for their guests. Focusing on craft beer and wine can make a lasting impression on every wedding. We will also create signature cocktails, and offer a full scale tasting with each couple, to narrow down appropriate choices and amount of drinks. We provide free delivery, kegs upon request and 10% off wedding purchases.
Tell us about a couple of your favorite seasonal (autumn) beers.
Unfortunately autumn beers do not stay around for long. Revolution Oktoberfest, Metropolitan Afterburner and Founders Backwoods Bastard are all amazing beers, but they do not last long on our shelves.
Why do you like participating in Wedtoberfest?
Getting to see the trends and meeting the couples! The great thing about wedding events, are that people are there to have fun and “style” their wedding.
Can you tell us about any new or exciting projects that may have just happened or are happening soon?

The folks behind Wedtoberfest are passionate about many things, but two of them specifically are good drinks and being environmentally conscious. B-Cycled Bottles (one of our awesome sponsors this past year) takes both of those ideas and creates one cool product: up-cycled beverage bottles to create unique glassware!
Brandon, the man behind B-Cycled Bottles, became inspired to do this when he was brainstorming cool party favor ideas for his wife’s birthday party. He took Grey Goose Vodka bottles, cut and sanded them down, and created really cool glassware simply by using recycled materials.
If you’re sitting here thinking, “this is a great wedding party favor idea!” – then you’re in luck! Just tag someone in the comments section of the Facebook post who is getting married in the next year, and we will select a random winner in the next week. The lucky winner will receive some free glassware to share with their wedding party!
Make sure to visit the B-Cycled Bottles Etsy shop as well as their Facebook page to learn more about them and their products. Cheers!
